25% salary boost to Central govt, allied staff

The Seventh Pay Commission has given a hike of 16% basic pay to the Central government and allied staff, boosting their salaries by a minimum 25% overall. This recommendation will be applicable to 53% pensioners also. There are in all ten million staff in the Central government, including pensioners. The Union Cabinet has approved of the Pay Commission recommendations and decided to implement the new scales with retrospective effect from January 1, 2016. The Central staff are going to get arrears soon. While the Pay Commission recommended 14.2% basic pay rise, the Central government rounded it off at 16%, according to sources. The Pay Commission recommendations will have a chain effect on the economy.
