HC strikes down Mallannasagar oustees plea

The Hyderabad High Court on Monday struck down the case of 12 farmers of Medak district regarding the Mallannasagar project land acquisition. The farmers appealed to the High Court against the State government's land acquisition plans. Advocate-general Ramakrishna Reddy told the court that that there would no question of forcible land acquisition for the project. The land acquisition would be done only with the consent of the farmers. He further told the court that land acquisition would be done as per the law. The farmers need not be perturbed about the land acquisiton. Taking the Advocate-General's arguments, the High Court struck down the farmers' petition. On the political front, Chief Minister K. Chadrasekhar Rao also reassured the farmers that whatever law they wanted that would be applied for giving them compensation. The alternatives are the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, and Go 123.
