Devineni, Harish shake hands, but stick to guns

The Irrigation Ministers of the Telugu States are shaking hands in Delhi, but they are keeping the distance as regards Irrigation water projects taken up by Telangana. In a series of meetings under the auspices of the Union Irrigation Minister Uma Bharati, the two ministers are meeting since Wednesday, but the issues remained unresolved. After handshake in the presence of Central Irrigation Secretary, Amrjit Singh, on Thursday morning, they sat opposite the official. Both were silent for some time. Devineni Uma is said to have broken the ice, saying the irrigation projects taken up by the Telangana government on the Krishna posed a danger to the Andhra region. The projects are Palamuru-Rangareddy and Dindi. T. Harish Rao, who heard Devineni patiently, then equally effectively put up Telangana's case. It is reported that over 9 hours were spent on the talks without a solution so far. The talks are continuing on Thursday also.
