Karnataka wants people to opt out of beer & drink IMFL

The Karnataka government wants the people to drink hard liquor as compared to beer. Reason? There is more excise revenue in IMFL than in beer. The Siddaramaiah government in fact has taken up a drive telling liquor shops and bars and restaurants to tell customers that beer was out of stock. But if they wanted they could go for hard liquor. The gullible customers will thus be forced to drink hard liquor and become addicted for life. Meanwhile Siddaramaiah's Finance Minister will laugh all the way to banks. As choice beers are produced in Karnataka, these are given excise exemption or rebate. So there's no profit in beer guzzling. In any case, the beer summer season is now over. On the contrary, the Bihar government despite the revenue loss has declared prohibition in the State. The Bihari tipplers are however going to neighbouring State of UP and Nepal for their peg.
