Malaysian model adopted to make AP best state by 2029

The Governance and Urban Development Labs, organized by Chief Commissioner Land Administration (CCLA), Revenue Department and Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Department, commenced at Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute (MCHRD) on Tuesday with a call to making Andhra pradesh the best State in the country by 2029. The five-week labs sessions are facilitated by Vision Management Unit, APSDPS, Planning Department and PEMANDU, Malaysia. The labs were inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. E. Krishna Murthy. Anil Chandra Punetha, Spl. C.S. CCLA, Karikal Valiven, P.S, MAUD Dept, J.C. Sarma, PS, Revenue Dept, Sanjay Gupta, Spl. Secy (EO), Planning Dept, and Devagunam Ravindran, Director (PEMANDU) participated in it. Moving forward with the Chief Minister’s Vision to make Andhra Pradesh one amongst the three best states in India by 2022, the best state by 2029, and a leading global investment destination by 2050, the PEMANDU lab model has been adopted by the State as the best practice to identify errors, find solutions, and bring out deliverable outcomes which can be implemented by line departments. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is a pioneer in adoping and implementing any new methodology and the government is keen to bring in structural transformation to become the best state by 2029, Krishna Murthy said. “Post the bifurcation in June 2014, The AP government is converting every crisis into an opportunity. Formulation of the Vision 2029 document is in the final stages and would soon be put on the public domain for soliciting public views. Director of APSDPS, Planning Dept, N Y Sastry, in his welcome speech, expressed hope that there would be an active participation in the labs to make Vision 2029 a reality. The initiatives resultant from the retail lab are set to impact 50,000 kirana stores in unorganised retail and will potentially benefit 34 million rural population. In the organized retail sector, the Rs, 5,142 crore planned investments into the sector is expected to create at least 25,000 additional jobs. The Vision Management Unit (VMU) set up under Planning Department of Andhra Pradesh Government will bring the required strategic focus and play a critical role in leading and handholding the Labs implementation process. The unit will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure that outcomes are realised through strategic focus and sustained manner.
