You must achieve financial targets, CM tells bankers

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Saturday that the annual credit plan should not be a mere ritual, but bankers should work towards fast and honest implementation to achieve financial targets. Speaking at the State-Level Bankers’ committee meeting, he asked the committee to extend help to the prioritized sectors so as to put the State on the development track. The government accords top priority for the development and welfare of the state. It had established Kapu and Brahmin corporations and introduced a slew of schemes to serve the marginalized communities, he added. The government is very keen to providing gas connections to every household by next year and ensure that rural people get power, water, gas, cable connections along with other amenities. Services of Self–Help group women working as bank correspondents will be implemented on a pilot basis in Krishna district from June 1, he said. The government is determined to making agriculture profitable and ensure the state is free from drought. Under ‘Panta Sanjeevani’ initiative, the state was successful in constructing 10 lakh rainwater-harvesting pits and these initiatives have ensured an increase in groundwater levels by 3 tmc in Rayalaseema.
