Mahanadu delegates lap up sweets on day one
Some 150,000 meals were consumed during the three-day TDP Mahanadu in Tirupati, which concluded on Sunday.
Two meals and one-time snacks were served for some 1000 people on each of the 3 days.
For preparing the meals and snacks, 250 gas cylinders were used and also 13 tons firewood. The provisions included 100 quintals rice, 50 tons tur dal, 50 tons black gram, 300 cans oil and 40 cans of ghee. Tons of vegetables were used as also kilos of condiments.
Interestingly, 2500 kg mango pickle was consumed during the 3 days. Gongura, the Andhra specialty, consumed weighed 500 kg. But it was finished off on the first day itself.
Sweets such as laddu and Kakinada kaza were exhausted on the first day itself.
Some of the delegates were unhappy with the taste of some of the items on the first day, but they started liking the fare later on, according to Shivaji, Ambica's caterers.
