Chandrababu reviews TDP RS nominees list
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP supremo, Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday reviewed the names of its two Rajya Sabha nominees to be elected by the State assembly on June 11. The TDP allotted one seat for the BJP from the State.
While the TDP can win three RS seats, the opposition YCP can win one seat, which it has allotted to Vijay Sai Reddy.
Chandrababu called a number of leaders for the RS nominees review. They included Union ministers Ashok Gajapati Raju and Y. Sujana Chowdary, TDP AP unit president Kala Venkatrao and AP ministers Kalva Srinivasulu, Achchen Naidu, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Prattipati Pulla Rao.
While the discussion was going on, Chandrababu is stated to have suggested that all the aspirants names and credentials be reviewed once.
Y. Srujana Chowdary is due for renomination, as his term expires on June 21. As Union Minister, he is sure to be renominated.
This leaves the space for one more TDP candidate, because the party has assured the election of a BJP candidate from AP.
As of now, there are three candidates who are due for re-election from AP, apart from Nirmala Seetharaman. Considering Nirmala being nominated by the BJP from Karantaka, the others are Jairam Ramesh of the Congress, who has been nominated by his party from Himachal, and Jesudas Seelam, also of the Congress.
With the Congress drawing a blank in the AP Assembly and facing an uncertain future in the country as a whole, the people of AP might lose the services of the Guntur-born Jusudas Seelam, who studied in Andhra Christian College, went on to become Chemistry Professor, then IPS and IAS and Union Minister under the Congress.
