TDP offers one Rajya Sabha seat to BJP

The ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh on Monday conveyed to the BJP ruling at the Centre that it would allot votes for a BJP candidate in the Rajya Sabha poll if they fielded a candidate from AP. As per the strength in the AP assembly, the TDP is in a position to win three RS seats on its own. It would be satisfied with two and transfer the votes for the third to the BJP. The YCP is in a positon to win one seat on paper. As if to show that it had already taken enough care, the BJP has nominated Union Minister, Nirmala Sitaraman, who got elected from Andhra Pradesh last time, from Karnataka. Another Union Minister, Venkaiah Naidu, was nominated from Rajasthan. He was elected from Karnataka last time. There could be reservations of State leaders that Venkaiah was among those leaders ruling out Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh, even while promising all help to AP. The BJP is said to have a chance in AP if some TDP votes are transfered to it. The BJP will have to nominate the candidate.
