D. Srinivas quits as adviser, to stand in RS poll

D. Srinivas on Saturday resigned from the position of Special Adviser to the Government of Telangana in view of filing his nomination to the Rajya Sabha election as ruling TRS candidate. He handed over his resignation letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He is expected to file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha poll on Tuesday. A former PCC president, Srinivas has had a long political career. Seeing no future for him in the Congress, he had shifted to the TRS. He has now been rewarded with the Rajya Sabha nomination. Popularly known as DS, he was known to be the true follower of the Congress high command when he was in the Congress. Now that he is out of the Congress, Srinivas has also shifted his loyalties to the TRS. Like V. Hanumnatha Rao, Srinivas was known to be the firm in loyalty to the Congress leadership. In the changed circumstances, the Congress leadership is itself groping in the dark. But Srinivas has made sure he is in the political reckoning.
