AP won't get special status : Venkaiah Naidu

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs M.Venkaiah Naidu clarifed that the centre could not give special status to Andhra Pradesh. In an interview given to a TV channel, he said that about 11 states are demanding the status to them and there is no situations of giving the benefit to any state in India at present. "It is me who said in Parliament that Andhra Pradesh needs the status for ten years," reminded the minister. But, he said that Narendra Modi would give the state more benefit than the status. Commenting on building the capital at Amaravati on par with Singapore and Tokyo, he opined that it would remain as a dream only. "Constructing secretariat, assembly, all government offices and quarters for employees are enough. Then the development will start step by step," commented Naidu. He advised the TDP leaders not to cheat the people by saying that they would construct a capital far better than Hyderabad within 20 years. The minister also said that development has to be decentralised and entire concentration should not be on Amaravati.
