DS,Captain to be TRS candidates for RS seats

Hyderabad, May 26: TRS party today announced the names of its two senior leaders --- Captain Lakshmikantha Rao and Dharmapuri Srinivas --- for Rajya Sabha elections due on June 11. The announcement set aside the speculation that the TRS hierarchy was considering the names of Damodar Rao, a relative of TRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao and Metro India Chairman C L Rajam besides D Srinivas and Captain Lakshmikantha Rao. The Chief Minister finally zeroed in on the two names, who can represent the State in Upper House in Parliament. RS elections will be held on June 11 and results will be announced on the same day. KCR, who is noted for giving due recognition to the party leaders and activists with timely rewards of posts – nominated or political, has taken a wise decision by clearing the name of Lakshmikantha Rao, who played a key role in the statehood movement and strengthening the party. It is being said KCR has picked his close aide in right time by clearing the name of the Captain. It is pertinent to note that party MP from Nizamabad, Kavitha succeeded in convincing her father to finalize the name of D Srinivas for RS seat as it will be a fetching point in her constituency to rein in supreme. The party hierarchy feels it that DS seniority of more than three decades in politics, will help the TRS gain at national level by raising Telangana voice in Rajya Sabha. Similarly, the TRS leadership preferred to choose former minister Fariduddin for the vacant MLC seat vacated by Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao on his being elected as MLA. Finance Minister Etala Rajender and Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy are appointed election observers of the party.
