Nadendla kept under house arrest, not allowed to go to Krishna barrage

The last Speaker of the combined Andhra Pradesh, Nadendla Manohar, was put under house arrest on Monday without allowing him to join the Congress dharna at the Krishna barrage in Vijayawada. Police had moved in strength at Tenali, Guntur and Vijayawada on account of dharna at the barrage preventing people from going to the barrage. Also, the move appeared to be in part to contain the former Speaker to the house. There is tension in Tenali town following the house arrest of Manohar. The Congress leaders are charging that the TDP government had failed in bringing about the Special Category Status for the State and showing utter neglect in opposing the projects taken up by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti government across the Krishna. Against this background, Manohar started from his house to go to Krishna barrage, but he was subjected to house arrest. This was opposed by Manohar and Congress leaders. He told the police that they were simply trampling on his rights. He also said they were doing wrong.
