SCR GM lays stress passenger problem redressal

South-Central Railway General Manager Ravindra Gupta on Saturday stressed the need to speedily redress the complaints of passengers. Gupta was addressing a day-long Planning and Coordination meeting held with Additional General Manager, all Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs), the Additional Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawda, Guntur, Guntakal and Nanded Divisions and Workshop Managers of the Zone at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Gupta directed officials to resolve public complaints immediately by acting o­n the same day. Most of the complaints pertained to cleanliness, rodent and cockroach menace, unclean coaches and toilets, non-availability of water, malfunctioning of lights, fans and mobile charging sockets and so on. The General Manager instructed the officials to formulate plans in advance and act promptly o­n these grievances in order to reduce the number of complaints. He advised the divisions to monitor cleanliness activity at all the important stations o­n a day-to-day basis. Install surveillance cameras o­n platforms so that cleanliness can be monitored from Divisional Headquarters also, he added. Gupta directed the divisions to identify the areas where the speed limit of the tracks can be increased to facilitate faster movement of trains, thereby saving precious running time. He called upon the officials to increase the productivity of workforce by upgrading their skills and providing the required training. He also reviewed the progress of works pertaining to provision of various passenger amenities at stations; critically analyse the distribution of workforce to improve productivity; expenditure control; increasing the other sources of revenue and so on.
