Babu SCS strategy pays off with Modi, claims CMO

Barring the Special Category Status by name, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is believed to have agreed to all demands put forward by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chadnrababu Naidu at their meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday. It is claimed by interested media that Chandrababu went to the meeting with a pucca plan and put the Prime Minister in the defensive on the SCS demand also. The media claimed that the Chief Minister prepared an 18-page report on the State's 12 demands, including the SCS. The first thing the Chief Minister did was to hand over the report to the Prime Minister. Then the Chief Minister told him that the SCS was the right of AP. This demand had to be conceded, regardless of the NITI Ayog or the Finance Commission recommendations. If you do not concede the SCS demand, the people would lose their remnant faith in Parliament, as it was made on the floor of Parliament. The Congress, which was in power and drafted the demand, and your party, the BJP, had together promised to implement the demand. This was supported by all parties in Parliament. After all that, you cannot go back on the SCS and doing so would hit your credibility, the Chief Minister is believed to have said. The Chief Minister told the Prime Minister AP had forgone yearly Rs 60000 crore revenue generated in Hyderabad. `No State in the country had faced such a situation. That is why we are seeking the SCS demand. Concede the demand fast.' Having been put in the defensive, the Prime Minister had to concede all demands, including mumbling on the SCS. He had to assure that everything would be done for AP. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. The people await the announcements.
