Campaigning ends in Palair, polling on May 16

Campaigning comes to an end on Saturday evening for the Palair by-election where polling takes place on Monday. Unlike the other elections in Telangana, Palair acquired some importance with the opposition parties such as the TDP and YCP not trying to put up their own candidates and leaving the field for Sucharita Reddy of the Congress against ruling TRS candidate and Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. The by-election has been caused by the death of Public Accounts Committee Chairman Ramreddy Venkatreddy. His wife Sucharita Reddy is now in the fray. Central forces have been deployed in strength in the constituency to prevent untoward incidents. Checks against flow of money have been increased following charges by the opposition that moneybags were coming into the constituency.
