Corporator Venkateswarlu involved in plane incident

Vijayawada corporator Ummadi Venkateswarlu on Saturday told a TV channel that he may have touched a woman co-passenger on plane while in sleep. Other than that he did not know anything about the unfortunate incident. Fifteen minutes later, the airplane steward had come to him and shown another seat for him to sit, which he did. But had he known about the charge that he had touched a woman, Venkateswarlu said he would have apologized then and there. Apparently the woman had lodged a complaint with the airline authorities, as a result of which cases were filed against him at Rajiv Gandhi International airport in Hyderabad and also at Gannavaram airport. The police however did not accost him at either of the two places. Reports suggested that he had slipped past the authorities at both the places. Venkateswarlu, on his part, said he had great respect for women and treated them as his sisters. He had spent public life without blemish so far.
