Nellore corporators clean bowled while beating the heat & retreat

In a bid to beat the heat and garner votes, corporators in Nellore are going to great lengths and failing in sustaining their efforts. Normally, in the summer, various agencies provide water on the roads to thirsty people. This is done free as a service. The same service in Nellore was tweaked by political leaders for their own ends. Nellore district TDP president Dharmavaram Subba Rao and his wife, Sujata Rao, started a toddy fruit point in the summer. As the fruit is given free, the people started queuing up at the point to have free fruit. A corporator Mallikharjun Yadav, who saw the toddy fruit point publicity, along with toddy fruit started giving free ice-cream and fruit juice. He got the free point opened by Minister Narayana. The people shifted from the toddy fruit point to the new free point, where they can get much more. Owing to the increasing demand, Mallikharjun overreached himself by opening another free point, and this time he called another Minister Sidda Raghavrao to open it. The people flocked to it like never before. People were coming from far, asking for the location of free points. The resources were exhausted, and the free points folded up, as quickly as they had opened. Now the whole thing has become a joke in Nellore town. `Ah, if you start giving free fruit, juice and ice-cream, even the mountain of gold would melt in Nellore.'
