Capital Amaravati workers go on the rampage as one dies in cement mixer

While the works on the temporary capital construction at Amaravati have been taken up on a war-footing, a worker died after he accidentally fell into a concrete cement mixer of L&T contractors on Monday-Tuesday night. The incident enraged the fellow workers who demanded the declaration of compensation for the worker, Devender, who belonged to UP, immediately. As the compensation announcement was not forthcoming, the workers got angry and set fire to the ambulance that was to take Devender's body. Not only that, they went into the L&T office at Velagapudi and smashed the furniture there, including computers. They came out and smashed the cars of L&T officials parked there. When the police tried to intervene, the workers indulged in stone-throwing at them. At the time of the night, the police were mute spectators while the workers went on the rampage.
