Fight for SCS or go down in history as characterless, YCP tells Chandrababu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will go down in history as a characterless leader if he is not able to achieve the promised Special Category Status for the State, according to the opposition YCP.
YCP spokesman Ambati Rambabu told newsmen on Thursday that if a leader of Chandrababu's stature could not achieve what was promised, it would be a useless exercise. In the circumstances, how could the ruling TDP continue in the alliance with the BJP at the Centre. He alleged that the TDP was being guided by personal issues for continuing the paradox.
Rambabu said Chandrababu was talking with a double voice in the matter. The Chief Minister had wondered some time ago whether the Special Category Status was an elixir. Now he was saying without the SCS, it would be very difficult for the State.
Chandrababu, with many terms as Chief Minister, may earn a name for himself, but the people would not forgive him if he could not achieve the SCS for the State.
At the same time, the YCP leader offered a joint struggle with the TDP to achieve the SCS for the State, although otherwise it was a no-holds-barred fight between the two parties.
Rambabu suggested to the TDP that it could still achieve the SCS by withdrawing its ministers from the Central Ministry. Then the TDP could organise an all-party meet by calling the Congress also and take a collective decision on the matter.
The YCP leader pointed out that the current TDP policy of continuing in alliance with the BJP having the Ministers in the Union and State ministries would not do.
He could not understand the claim that while continuing in the alliance, the TDP was saying it was still seeking the SCS demand. This, he said, was absurd.
