No SCS for AP, Minister Sinha writes to MP

There was no proposal before the Centre to change the rules for the according of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh, Minister of State for Fiance Jayant Sinha said in reply to a question by Anakapalli MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday. In a written reply, Sinha pointed out that the funds release for Andhra Pradesh was being done as per the 14th Finance Commission recommendations. He pointed in the letter that only to the extent it was possible the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act would be implemented. NITI Ayog recommendations would be guiding the funds release. (NITI had already ruled out SCS for AP). Besides, funds for AP would be subject also to budgetary provisions, Sinha added.
