Harish, Uma speak to settle water issues

Telangana Major Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Wednesday rang up his Andhra counterpart, Devineni Uma, in a bid to resolve the issues arising from water-sharing. The AP Minister is reported to have told his Telangana counterpart that they would resolve the issues under the related provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. They also resolved to unitedly take up the water-sharing issues with upstream Karnataka and Maharashtra governments. Uma is believed to have further said in case of dispute they would resolve the issues in the presence of Union Irrigation Minister Uma Bharati. Despite the indifference of the Centre on the AP Reorgansiation Act provisions, Uma Bharati had shown her preference for solving water issues under the provisions of the Act.
