More Agusta revelations welcome, says Sonia Gandhi

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday tried to brazen it out by saying `You are most welcome to make revelations' in the AgustaWestland Payoffs deal. The Congress president, who had seen the writing on the wall in the Italian High Court, which had named Signora Sonia Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh, AK Antony and her private secretary, Ahmed Patel, was apparently biding for time, knowing the court cases take long to prove. Sonia thus put the burden back on proving the revelations in connection with Agusta payoffs on the BJP-led government. The Milan High Court had at the time of convicting the AgustaWestland officials in the bribery case had asked the Indian authorities to cooperate. The UPA government that was in power at that time sat over the matter and sent the CAG report and two other documents that were available on the government of India website. Already 4 years have passed without the Indian side seriously starting a probe into the Agusta payoffs. Even if they were to start now, it would be another wild goose chase as in the Bofors payoffs because they would have to go round the world finding the money trail. So Sonia Gandhi could as well brazen it out, saying go ahead with more revelations, even as Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was expected to elaborate on the revelations in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
