China main exporter, source of fakes, says OECD

China is way ahead in the world in the export of duplicate brands with 63% share in the export of fake items. China is followed by Turkey at 3.3% of duplicate brand exports, Singapore at 1.9%, Thailand at 1.6% followed by India in the fifth position at 1.2%. The duplicate brand materials accounted for 2.5% of the imports in the world, accounting for half a trillion dollars. All these countries were mainly exporting the duplicate brands to the US, according to a survey of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development of Europe. After America, the target of the duplicate goods was Italy and France, which were getting 5% imports as fake material. China was the biggest culprit in this regard, it added. China was the main source of the fake materials, it said. The fakes were mainly in the handbags, scents and chemicals sectors.
