RS Chair orders Trinamool MP out of House over chopper payoffs

Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari on Monday ordered Sukhendu Sekhar Roy of the Trinamool Congress out of the House for his repeated obstructions and insisting on taking up a discussion on the AgustaWestland chopper deal in which the top Congress leadership had been named as recipients of huge kickbacks. Sukhendu Roy repeatedly requested the Chair to take up the pressing matter. But the Chair rejected his demands. Sukhendu Roy wanted a discussion anyway. He also demanded that Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar should make his intervention in the matter. The Trinumool MP did not heed the Chair advice. The Chairman, who became angry, directed the Trinamool MP to go out of the House. He also told the MP not to try and come back to the House for the day. After Sukhendu Roy went out, his Trinamool colleagues, too, followed him. They also told the Chair that they would not come back to the House for the day. The House had to be adjourned several times over the kickbacks to the top Congress leaders in the day.
