Close to reality `Maalik' banned in Pakistan

`Maalik', a film by Ashir Azim, has been banned in Pakistan, as it touches the nerve of every Pakistani, because of its close resemblance to real life. The Pakistani government has banned the film, sparking cries of censorship, dubbing it `uncertified for the whole of Pakistan.' `Maalik' is about a feudal and his bodyguard, who eventually kills his master. The twist in the tail is the feudal becomes Chief Minister. The chief ministers of many Pakistani provinces, including Sind and Punjab, have invariably been from feudal families. The Chief Minister, called by name Saaeen, a Sindhi word for a personage, closely resembles a former Chief Minister of Sind, who is shown as a man corrupt and opulent. Actor-Director Ashir Azim has defended his film on Twitter. The current Chief Minister's daughter, Nafisa Shah, said on Twitter, `Maalik' is an ill-coceived film will only divide Pakistan&harm national unity.
