EC recognises Pawan Kalyan's Janasena

Power Star Pawan Kalyan's Janasena became a political party in the Telugu States, with the Election Commission's Andhra Pradesh unit granting recognition to it on Monday. It was already recognised as a political party in Telangana. The recognition papers of the Election Commission were handed to the Janasena leader, Pawan Kalyan. The papers have also been sent to the district collectors and other returning officers in this regard. The Janasena party symbol has, however, not been finalised. The Election Commission assured the party that it would get priority over independents in the allotment of the party symbol. The commission responded to Pawan Kalyan's appeal for recognition in 2014. The commission took quite a while to accord recognition to the Janasena. While doing so, the objections raised by one Krishna were overruled by the commission.
