Oomen Chandy faced with SFI leader Thomas, aged 23

Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy, who won from Puttupalli 10 times in Kottayam district, is faced with a 23-year-old Marxist opponent, Jake C. Thomas, for his 11th assembly contest. The CPM has now decided to field a young Students Federation of India leader Thomas to check the 11th success of Chandy. Thomas is the state-level leader of the SFI. The young leader took on Chandy at a press conference on Friday to say that no Chief Minister of Kerala had faced as many corruption charges as Chandy. The people were, therefore, unhappy with Chandy government. There have not been been any developments in Puttupalli where the works were in a standstill. Therefore, this is the best opportunity for the people to think of a change in their MLA, Thomas added.
