Bhatti wants TRS to agree to unanimous bypoll in Paleru

With the Election Commission notifying the byelction schedule for the Paleru assembly seat following the death of incumbent Public Accounts Committee Chairman, Ramreddy Venkatreddy, the Congress generated intense heat in the bypoll by demanding that it be unanimous. The ruling TRS in Telangana had broken the norm of unanimity in case of death of an incumbent by making it an open contest at Narayankhed in Medak district following the death of Patolla Krishna Reddy. Prior to Narayankhed, unanimity was usually ensured by electing a member of the bereaved MLA's family. Telangana Congress Working President Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday demanded that the Paleru byelction also be unanimous. But if the TRS were to to make it open like in Narayankhed, then it would have to face the combined strength of the opposition. Bhatti said his party would negotiate with the ruling TRS about unanimous election in Paleru. If they don't agree the opposition would try to make it a straight contest between the opposition and the TRS.
