TDP-BJP alliance shows strains on public toilets issue
Dissensions within the TDP-BJP alliance were showing on Tuesday when the leaders of the ruling party at the Centre frowned on the issue of the construction of public toilets, alleging that the leaders of the ruling party in AP were opposing the construction.
BJP leaders, including Gokaraju Gangaraju, Kanna Laxminarayana and Vellampalli Srinivas, were talking to newsmen in this regard. They said the construction of public toilets would benefit both the parties at the time of the next elections. But then they did not understand why the TDP leaders were opposed to it. Moreover, the construction would strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi's `Swach Bharat programme.'
They pointed out that the 24-hour power supply in the State was entirely due to the Prime Minister's intervention.
They in fact went to the extent of saying that even if they go it alone in the 2019 elections, they would emerge tops in AP. Vellampalli Srinivas said as much.
