Jagan charges Chandrababu with staking 5 crore Andhras' interests

At the time of the split of the combined Andhra Pradesh, the Central government annunced Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. Asked to implement the SCS, the Centre was saying no such thing as Special Status existed in law. What sort of system is this, YCP leader Jaganmohan Reddy wondered on Monday. Jagan arrived in Visakhapatnam to meet his party leader Gudivada Amarnath who went on a week's fast to demand a railway zone with Vizag as headquarters. Giving him lemon juice to break the fast, Jagan asked what was holding back the TDP government to demand a railway zonal headquarters at Vizag. The TDP government was worried that should AP raise the demands of Special Category Status, railway zone and Polavaram project funds, the Central government might open the case of the vote-for-note scandal. That was why the TDP government was shying away from making these damands, he added. Jagan said if the railway zone was given for Vizag, there would be direct recruitment there and head offices of 16 railway departments would be allotted to the port city. With the zonal headquarters, job opportunities would go up in Vizag. The YCP leader charged the TDP government with not being interested in creating government jobs for the people. That was why it was not interested in creating the railway zone for Vizag. Jagan charged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu with sacrificing the interests of 50 million Andhras for his selfish ends. Speaking on government jobs, he pointed out that AP youths were attacked and turned back when they went to Odisha to write railway service examinations. The YCP leader thanked everyone who supported Gudivada Amarnath's fasting programme for the creation of a railway zone.
