Condemn Basith remarks or face consequences, Ajit Doval tells Pakistan

New Delhi on Saturday told Islamabad to condemn Pakistan Ambassador Abdul Basith's recent remarks regarding suspension of peace negotiations between the two countries or face the consequences. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval told his Pakistani counterpart, Nasir Khan Januja, that India had taken Pakistani duplicity seriously and that Basith remarks needed to be condemned for the continuation of the dialogue. Basith, as part of the Pakistani duplicity, made the remarks ruling out a visit by a team of the National Investigation Team's to Islamabad to further probe the Pathankot Airbase attack by Pakistani-based elements. Doval said Pakistan must now clarify its stand and reject Basith's duplicitous statement or face consequences. Pakistan is adept at duplicity. On the one hand it had agreed to the Pathankot probe, and when the time came for the NIA visit to Islamabad it made Basith throw spanner in the works.
