Kids sustain burns in Old City bakery fire
A dozen people, including eight children, sustained burns in a fire incident at a bakery at Talabkatta in Bhavaninagar police station limits in Old City on Saturday. Short circuit in the premises is said to have been the cause of the fire.
The fire was fuelled by the presence of kerosene tins in the premises.
As the big fire raged, the people from the neighbourhood rushed to the bakery to save the children. They got them out and reached them to the Osmania and Niloufer hospitals.
Fire Brigade tenders reached the spot to put out the fire.
The presence of eight children in the fire suggests child labour in the bakery. Normally youth are engaged in bakeries. They double up as salesmen and bread and cake makers.
Bakery products from Hyderabad have market all over the country. Biscuits made in Hyderabad have much market upcountry.
