Property angle comes to the fore in the killing of Tanzil Ahmed (NIA) probe
Property angle is increasingly coming to the fore in connection with the murder of senior National Investigation Agency officer Tanzil Ahmed who was killed on Sunday, when some 20 bullets were pumped into him by two unidentified gunmen in his native Bijnour district in Uttar Pradesh.
For the ace NIA official, who played a key role during the recent visit of the Pakistani Special Investigations Team to Pathankot because of his fluency in Urdu, the end came soon, but before breathing his last he saved the lives of his family members who were travelling with him in his Wagon R.
The unidentified killers are said to have overtaken his Wagon r, but came back alognside and pumped bullets into him.
The NIA officer was also said to be fluent in Persian and was adept at cracking codes and developing intelligence in critical areas, including nabbing of the former Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal in June 2013. So the IM angle was also being probed in connection with the Tanzil's killing.
Tanzil had made frequent visits to his hometown over property matters. So the property angle has gained credibility. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder, but their identities have not been revealed.
Tanzil's murder was being probed from several angles, including anti-terrorism, special task force, district police and central investigations.
Also, several security specialists were in the past associated in property disputes. They include Rajbir Singh, encounter specialist of the Delhi police, Daya Nayak, of the Mumbai police, and Ravindranath Angre, of the Maharashtra police and so on.
