Baba Ramdev ready to kill but for regard for the statute
Two opposite views on `Bharatmataji ki JaI' have come to repose faith in the Constitution. Joining the debate, Baba Ramdev said on Monday that he would have cut the throats of hundreds if they had refused to raise the slogan.
But then, nowhere in the Constitution does it emphasise that one should chant `Bharatmata ki Jai' slogan. So he would do no such thing.
This was same as was said by MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. He had said: ``Even if there is a sharp knife on my throat, i will not raise the slogan of `Bharatmata ki Jai,' because it does not figure anywhere in the Constitution.''
Baba Ramdev indirectly said some were openly saying that they would not raise the slogan of `Bharatmata ki Jai'. They should be ashmed of their assertion, because everyone should love his motherland.
History scholar Irfan Habib said recently that fatherland and motherland are western concepts.
