TDP squanders public money on defeated TDP leaders

The Opposition YCP on Wednesday lashed out at the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh on the issue of squandering public funds in the name of Special Development Funds through the hands of defeated TDP leaders in the Assembly constituencies and denying the same to the elected YCP MLAs. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had given away Rs 50 lakh each of the Special Development Fund to the defeated TDP leaders and also those who had not entered the Assembly election fray at all. The TDP government had made it official by issuing a GO in this regard. The YCP questioned how was it that the funds were denied to the elected MLAs and squandered away Rs 50 lakh each in so many constituencies? If public money was thus frittered away among TDP leaders, what about the elected people's representatives? the YCP asked. The YCP MLA, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, raised the issue on the last day in the House and wondered how could funds be allotted to the ruling party MLAs in their constituencies and denied to the MLAs of the opposition parties? How could the government waste the monies on defeated TDP candiddates in the respective constituencies? Then YCP leader, Jaganmohan Reddy, took over from Rajendranath Reddy and questioned the issue of public money being dumped on defeated TDP leaders. At this stage, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu wondered how was it wrong when the Chief Minister used his discretionary powers to give the money for development? If the Chief Minister appointed his party leaders in those constituencies and given them money, what was wrong in it? As Jagan intervened and started reading the names of those who have received the discretionary funds, the Speaker cut the mike of the Leader of the Opposition. Angered by the Speaker cutting off the mike, the YCP leaders surrounded the Speaker podium. The Speaker had to adjourn the House for 10 minutes.
