Slipper thrown at Kanhaiya meeting in Hyderabad

There was a lot of confusion and commotion as an unidentified person threw a slipper at Jawaharlal Nehru Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar who was addressing a meeting at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Hyderabad on Thursday. The sturdy unidentified person earlier raised slogans against Kanhaiya before throwing the slipper. Immediately the communist organisers at the meeting pounced on the person in strength. Even as Kanhaiya asked the organisers to spare him, they punched the person and floored him, injuring him. The police moved in and took the person into custory. Kanhaiya told the organisers repeatedly, `Don't beat him up, spare him.' But then the leftists had been waiting for such an opportunity to show their strength. Kanhaiya started saying he did not know Telugu. But whenever there was a reference to the Dalits, he heard the suffix `gaadu'. It was at this point that the slipper was thrown. Kanhaiya made references to Manuvaad, and went into his characteristic style of suddenly raising slogans, inviting the listeners to join him.
