Bar shouting, Kanhaiya meetings proving damp squib

Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar's visit to the University of Hyderabad proved a damp squib with the police barring him from entering the university and addressing a condolence meeting on Wednesday. Bar shouting slogans, nothing much had come off at the HCU. On Thursday, he was expected to address students at the Siddhartha Academy Auditorium in Vijayawada. But even before he went to Vijayawada, the students affiliated to the BJP have warned against his visit. The communist parties, the CPI and CPM, which have been championing the cause of Kanhaiya Kumar, have asserted that the JNU student's visit would be carried out. The left parties warned of serious consequences if attempts were made to stop Kanhaiya's meeting. Another meeting was being organsied at IV Palace in Governorpeta in Vijayawada. The police have said that no permission had been sought for the Governorpeta meeting. They have made heavy bandobast arrangements in Vijayawada. Before things get off hand, the police are likely to arrest Kanhaiya and other leaders in the AP capital region. Kanhaiya was to deliver the keynote address on `Anti-Communalism' at the Siddhartha Academy in Vijayawada.
