Google removes Pak spyware from its PlayStore

Google has removed a spyware that was objected to by Indian agencies, including CNN-IBN, called SMESHAPP, used by Inter-Services Intelligence and Pakistan agencies to shadow Indian Army personnel. The modus operandi of the ISI was to honeytrap Indian armymen on Facebook. They then would unknowingly be communicating with the Pakistani handlers, thinking them to be girls inviting them. Some Border Security Force and Central Industrial Security Force personnel have also fallen prey to the Pakistani handlers. The spyware app not only infected smartphones but also personal computers of soldiers. After getting installed, the app allowed third party access to phone logs, text messages and photographs. The info collected by the app was stored on a server in Germany and was accessed by a user in Karachi. The app was stated to have been used during the Pathankot airbase attack by the Pakistani handlers. They got access to crucial information on troop movement. Google has since removed Smeshapp from its playstore.
