Railways put Ratnachal Express burning loss at Rs 8.29 crore
The Railways have sustianed a loss of Rs 8.29 crore in the burning of Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada Ratnachal Express by Kapu agitators in Tuni on January 31.
The Kapu agitators were instigated at the Kapu Unity Roar meeting to set fire to the Ratnachal Express. Twenty-four bogies of the train were burnt down. The agitators also set fire to two police stations in Tuni on that day, besides indulging in large-scale violence, demanding inclusion of the Kapus among the Backward Classes.
The railways took more than a month to fix the loss to them in the burning of Ratnachal Express.
The Rs 8.29 crore loss was stated by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to a question put by MA Khan in the Rajya Sabha.
