EAS Sarma questions ecology impact report on Amaravati capital construction

Environmentalist EAS Sarma, ex-IAS, has questioned the Andhra Pradesh State Environment Impact Assessment Authority clearance for the construction of the Andhra capital Amaravati. Sarma said how could a capital be built on one of the most fertile lands in and around Amaravati. He has filed a Public Interest Litigation with the National Green Tribunal. The tribunal fixed April 4 for taking up hearing in the case. Sarma argued that the capital comprising 23 villages was the most fertile region. The former distinguished IAS official pointed out that the Central government, capital Regional Development Authority, Andhra Pradesh State Environment Impact Assessment Authority and AP Pollution Control Board as the defendants in his petition.
