Kanhaiya & JNU students, fear for security, seized by schizophrenia

For all their bravado and bluster in raising anti-national slogans and organising seditious speeches, when it comes to moral courage the Jawaharlal Nehru University students betray pusillanimity. Jawaharlal Nehru University students union president Kanhaiya Kumar, the toast of opposition parties such as the Congress, the CPI and CPM and the Aam Admi Party, has gone into hiding, not because anyone is chasing him but because of security. The JNU student leaders in general fear for their lives, as though they are being chased by the devils for whom they raised their slogans such as Afzal Guru and Yakub Memon, the convicted traitors. The JNU student leaders are now sensitive to their security. After the big speeches following the release of Kanhaiya Kumar, they did not go back to their Brahmaputra hostel, but to a Professor's quarter. Even there they were little convinced of their predicament and went to a secret place. The students are also stating that they are constantly changing their shelter so as to give the slip to their unknown stalkers. The students in general are of the view that Kanhaiya should not be allowed to face his assailants, whoever they are, directly. That is they want to form a security ring round him. For all their so-called intellectual sloganeering, shouted with gay abandon, they are afraid of the public domain, having got the taste of it at the Patiala House Court not long ago. With that first brush fresh in their minds, the students are agitated over security after their agitation, which led to nowhere. The students forget that India is a democracy wherein, at least in the public domain, even big leaders behave responsibly. Schizophrenia ensues if you are irresponsible.
