Jaitley to meet economists Saturday

Finance minister Arun Jaitley will be holding consultations with economists on Saturday, to make cosmetic changes in the budget proposals he will be presenting on Monday. The 90-minute meeting with the economists has been confirmed by the ministry, but they did not let out the agenda. For all one knows, it maybe a general discussion on the economy. Previous finance ministers used to meet economists and economic editors, but not so close to the budget presentation. Jaitley would be accompanied at the meeting by Minister of State Jayant Sinha and senior officials of the ministry. Industry leaders say the meeting may throw up some quick-fix measures
