Govt concedes all Kapu assurances, Padmanabham asserts

Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham on Monday said he broke his fast-unto-death for the primary reason that the government had conceded his earlier demand that the assurances given in the past would be implemented now. Padmanabham said he broke the fast also because there was a clear assurance about the kapu demands from the government. He had undertaken the fast for the resolution of the Kapu demands and was now breaking it for the welfare of the Kapus. When the quota would be implemented for the Kapus, the community supremo said he would wash the feet of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and also prostrate before him. Talking to newsmen after breking his indefinite fast, Padmanabham appealed to all those who were fasting with him, including his wife, Padmavathy, children, and activists to break their fast. He noted that Chief Minister had responded to his deamnds in a favourable way, that the poor among the Kapus would benefit by loans and that reservations would be a reality sooner.
