Amma Party gets 17698 appeals for AIADMK tickets

Puratchi Thaliavi Amma party leader Jayalalithaa has been asked by some 8,000 candidates for the AIADMK ticket to contest from their respective consitutuencies in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections due in 3 months. Several independent surveys have already predicted an AIADMK victory in the coming elections. Against the winning background, the party has received as many as 26,174 appeals for AIADMK ticket. These candidates have accrued Rs.28.4 crore to the party coffers. The AIADMK received in all 17,698 party ticket applications from Tamil Nadu, 322 from Pondicherry and Kerala 208. The surveys are, however, against the norm. The power rolls between the DMK parties by turns. The DMK had, however, been at the receiving end owing to large-scale corruption by its leaders at the Centre. Not that Jayalalithaa has been spared by the taint of corruption. She got away for the present by the judgement in Karnataka Special Court by way of some wrong accounting.
