BJP happy with 18% vote polled

The fortunes of the TDP-BJP combine have come down drastically in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. From the 50 divisions they held earlier, the combine's fortunes came down to 5 divisions. The TDP's case is more miserable. It had held 45 divisions, now it had to be satisified with just 1 division. As Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said, Chandrababu Naidu was of no use to Hyderabad anymore, although the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said he would go wherever there were Telugus. The BJP, whose tally came down to 4 from the previous 5, says it honours the people's verdict. Talking to newsmen, State BJP unit president Kishan Reddy said on Saturday that while the party may not have made big in numbers, it polled an encouraging 18% of the vote. Like before, the BJP would function as a responsible opposition party taking up people's causes.
