GHMC result may boost TRS into Sanatnagar bypoll

Boosted by the phenomenal success in the GHMC elections, the leaders who have defected to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti from other parties are rearing to go for the byelections. Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who defected from the TDP, on Saturday stated that he had all along been saying that the assembly byelections be called and that he was ready to face a bypoll from Sanatnagar. Although he did not say much on the Sanatnagar issue, Srinivas appears to see success written all over with the GHMC poll settling the settlers issue. All along, the TRS had been shy of a Sanatnagar byelection owing to the Andhra settlers in it, who could vote for any party. Would the settlers now make a distinction between purely civic and purely State issues? The fear lingers. However, Srinivas said the GHMC poll had made it clear to Chandrababu Naidu that he was not necessary for Hyderabad. He said the TRS would fulfil the promises it made before the civic polls. At the same time, Srinivas recalled the promise of double bedroom houses for the poor and challenged the BJP (of the TDP combine) whether they could secure 1,000 houses for their constituencies.
