Sack Dattatreya, Kejriwal tells PM Modi

Playing on the widespread sentiment following the alleged suicide by the Hyderabad Central University scholar Rohith Vemula, all major political parties have joined the demand for the sack of Union Minister Badaru Dattatreya for having written a letter to the Centre about the HCU affairs. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of Aam Admi Party, has tweeted: Rohith's is not a suicide. It is certainly a murder. "The Narendra Modi government which should have fought for Dalits' progress had got five Dalit students suspended. Rohith's is not a suicide. It is murder of democracy. "Social injustice ... Murder of equality. It is certainly murder of democracy. Those responsible for it ought to be suspended from his Cabinet by Modi. They should apologise to the people of the country." Dattatreya was similarly criticised for his role by TRS MP Kavita on Monday. Meanwhile, former UP Chief Minister Mayawati, who represents the Dalits, has sent a two-member team to HCU to find surreptitiously the real reasons behind the suicide by Rohith. The two members are stated to have already reached the HCU campus. Rohith was also a Dalit leader.
