Google to double Indian operations centred in Hyderabad

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said on Wednesday that Google was going to double its Indian operations with Hyderabad as its central focus. Meeting networking specialists, developers, interested experts and marketing professionals in the morning, the CEO outlined a nine-point plan for Google to transform communications in India. Starting his Indian tour, Sundar said the plans include `Internet Saathi' which aims at providing links to women in 300,000 villages in the country in 3 years. A pilot project in this regard is already underway. An engineeing center will be set up in Hyderabad to double Google operations in the country. An Indic keyboard will be created to simplify communications in 11 Indian languages. About 500 railway stations in the country will be provided with WiFi facility by 2017. By end-2016, 100 stations will get the facility. From next year, live cricket scores will be provided by Google Search to Indians who religiously follow cricket. Internet will be made accessible to every Indian. This apart efforts will be made to provide them with timely news instantly. Every Google decision will be made taking into account accessibility to Indians. Maximum output will be derived from even slow internet connections in the country. Next year, Indians will number more than the Americans using the Android System. This will make India Google's home market. Loon scheme providing for cheaper internet will be introduced in Indian villages. The scheme was introduced 2 years ago elsewhere. Sunder concluded his speech saying, "This country has given me a lot. In return, i wish to give it back as much as possible."
