APTDC to develop Lammasingi as a winter destination for tourists

Hyderabad, Dec 11: Lammasingi, a tribal village of 500 people in Vizag district of Andhra Pradesh, experienced a meteorological oddity on January 15, 2012. The temperature of Lammasingi dropped to zero degree Celsius. Ever since then AP's tourism authorities have touted the village, which is nestled in the Eastern Ghats, as the ‘Kashmir Valley of Andhra Pradesh'. Lammasingi is located 120 km from Vizag and therefore tourist crowd swells during weekends now-a-days. Every December, youngsters, braving the chill and low visibility on the ghat road, visit Lammasingi. The village can be reached by car, motorcycle and APSRTC bus. The nearest railhead is the Narsipatnam Road, 30 km away. However, finding a place to stay in Lammasingi is difficult. With tourists flocking the village during winter, the State government has identified 18.75 acres of land to be developed as a tourist spot by the AP Tourism Development Corporation. APTDC is proposing to build 25 eco-friendly cottages having luxury facilities with an estimated cost is Rs. 8.75 crore.
